How I Found Peace (and Built Pure Roots)
I didn’t start Pure Roots because I had it all figured out.
I started it because I didn’t.
In November 2019, I walked into a doctor’s office and faced numbers I couldn’t ignore , 255 pounds, pre-diabetic, and officially on blood pressure medication. I'd always struggled with my weight, but this hit differently. It wasn’t just about health anymore. I realized, deep down, I didn’t even like who I was becoming.
At the same time, I was also dealing with the end of a relationship that meant a lot to me and losing it forced me to confront parts of myself I hadn’t wanted to see.
The sadness, the anger, the regret, it all sat heavy inside me.
And there was no shortcut through it.
Somewhere along the way, I realized I had to reconnect with myself first, before I could heal anything else.
I didn’t know where to start, so I started small.
I turned to meditation — something I had heard about but never stuck with before.
It wasn’t easy. Honestly, I think I failed at it the first few times because I expected an instant miracle. This time, I let it be messy. I just showed up, day after day, without expecting anything.
And slowly... something changed.
It wasn’t dramatic. It was the little things less anger, more patience, better conversations with my dad, a lighter feeling in my own body.
Even letting go of the hurt from that relationship something that felt impossible at first, started happening naturally.
Not overnight, but piece by piece.
I realized that staying grounded wasn’t about grand gestures, it was about subtle, daily reminders to slow down, to breathe, to live intentionally.
That's where the idea for Pure Roots was born.
I wanted to create something that could be that daily reminder — for me and for anyone else walking the same path. Not flashy. Not loud. Just simple, real, and rooted.
Pure Roots is for the people finding their way back to themselves.
It’s for anyone who knows deep down that there's a quieter, truer way to live and just needs a nudge in that direction.
If you're on that journey too, I hope you find peace in the practice the same way I did.
If any of this resonated with you and you’re curious about the simple reminders that helped keep me grounded every day,
